Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student and I focused on math review. He has a test tomorrow, so we spent this time to review the topics for the test. I think this was very helpful for him because I was able to see where he ran into trouble and which types of questions gave him the most difficulty. I explained anything that he did not fully understand and gave him some tips for taking the test. We reviewed how to read a question carefully and spent extra time on word problems. Overall, he remained focused and picked up on things he was previously unclear on. He felt confident that he will do well!"
"We started with a timed multiplication and division tests. The student improved greatly in both accuracy and speed from last week. The remainder of the session focused on translating real world word problems into the appropriate mathematical calculations."
"The student and I went over the problems on the assessment from yesterday that she was having difficulty with and she did much better today. We also reviewed the "water" concepts from her science and worked on her "friendly letter.""
"We worked on multiplication/division word problems, number properties, patterns, simplifying fractions, addition/subtraction of mixed numbers, multiplication of fractions, multiplication of mixed, improper and whole numbers, division of fractions, division of mixed, improper and whole numbers, comparing fractions, ordering fractions and fraction applications."
"Today we went over his winter review packet. We solved word problems. These were concepts that have not been taught yet in school. We will finish working on his review packet at our next session."
"The student and I started spelling by going over some phonograms and then did list H-1 11-20. For grammar, we classified sentences and also introduced prepositional phrases. For cursive, she wrote capital I-N 20x on a sheet. In Math, I introduced the concept of 1000 as 10 100's. We finished by doing the map work for Phoenicia in history."
