Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed vocabulary words, Greek god/goddess myths on the origin of the Olympians (Uranus, Cronos, Zeus and his siblings). Also reviewed math homework for test regarding percentages, decimals, percentage of change, and absolute values"
"We went over some math problems involving finding domains/solutions sets and matrix multiplication. The student reported that he had trouble with a particular type of problem on his test so we went over similar problems. We also worked on physics problems involving impulse and momentum. The student seemed to catch on to the concepts quickly."
"The student is still working on proportionalities and whether, if given particular information, things are or are not proportional. The student seems to have a good grasp of this. I reviewed more algebra with him and assigned him some work through his mother to work on it so he can review it."
"The student is taking an important test tomorrow so I rescheduled to meet her tonight. We tried to go over the topics that are going to be tested. I wrote down the formulas for her. I hope that she memorizes the formulas before the test. She also tend to make lots of simple mistakes and I think the best way to overcome this is to practice more and to try to stay focused."
"Reviewed problems that incorporated rate of change in reference to functions. Utilized the linear, parabolic and linear functions as models of analysis. Describes different aspects of rate of change and slope of model functions."
"The student and I reviewed probabilities for his math management course. Much of it was similar to his previous probability and statistics course, but phrased in different ways. On going through them, most of what he had previously learned came back once the rust was shaken off. We covered probabilities of dice rolls, independence and mutual exclusivity of events, binary and normal distributions, probability distributions in general, and calculating means and standard deviations from discrete probability distributions."
