"Covered linear equations, rational functions, simplifying expressions, factoring quadratics, and simplifying exponents for Pre-Calculus Math Class. The lesson went very well, and the student was responsive and enthusiastic."
"During this session, the student had a few homework problems for us to work together that covered concepts he will learn more about in class tomorrow. So first we went over the concepts and formulas for how to find the amplitude, frequency, period, phase shift, and vertical shift of a trig function. We were able to work through these concepts and answer one whole question and half of another. We will finish going over how to graph the function we were going over and pick up on the last homework problem we didn't get to next time."
"During this session, we first reviewed the homework that I had assigned in the previous weeks. The student had a few questions, so I spent more time explaining some advanced topics that he was curious about. We then went over the next chapter that he was to cover the following week of school. He understood most concepts, and even displayed mastery of some of those topics. In future sessions, we will go over any questions he had from the previous week, then go over the chapter to prepare for school."
"During this session, we went over mathematical induction, basic statistics, and arithmetic and geometric series. The student was having trouble understanding induction, which is a method of proof that most students have trouble understanding their first time around. I explained it using dominoes, and how dominoes related to the steps of induction. The other topics we went over were more straightforward, and all that was required was assurance that they were doing the problems correctly."
"First session went very well and the student paid attention thoroughly throughout. We covered vectors, polar coordinates and sequences/series. He struggled in particular with differentiating between sequences and series, but I was able to elucidate the concept for him. He felt comfortable with certain aspects of polar coordinates, especially graphing them. In regards to vectors, he performed well on the problems that we went over. I included multiple studying strategies, especially in regards to memorizing the unit circle, which he will need for the exam. He will further go over his exam review packet, and will come to the tutoring session tomorrow ready with specific questions on the problems that he went over. Overall, a very solid first session!"
"For AP Chem, we looked over the first half of Ch. 6 on the electronic configuration of atoms. For PreCalc, we reviewed the first half of Ch. 4 on trig functions; some things were review, like the unit circle and the definition of certain trig functions (sin, cos, tan). The student learned new applications of trig functions."
