Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a review of chapter 3 to prepare for his chapter test tomorrow. We also went over the math concepts in his science class and going over how to approach those questions so as to not make silly computational mistakes. We also did the same thing of catching computational mistakes for the math problems."
"We did test corrections today for the student's Geometry class. The problems she missed were the ones that involved algebra and proofs. However, she has showed major improvement in her knowledge of theorems and definitions. She still needs additional support on her algebra. We went over her chemistry review for the last 15 minutes of the session. "
"We did test preparation for Chapter 1. The student demonstrated a strong grasp of the full breadth of material. He needs to focus on not making any arithmetical errors, but he is otherwise in good shape for Wednesday's test."
"We did the odd numbered exercises in his textbook for sections 3.1 to 3.3 plus about 6 problems of 3.4. This is to prepare him for his test or quiz covering same sections. He doesn't show all that much enthusiasm in Geometry in general and proving things, in particular. I left him to finish the remaining odd questions in 3.4 and recommend he do the evens too, even though the evens didn't have answers at the back pages of his textbook. No scores shown nor grades yet. He struggles a bit with proving conjectures, and may need to write down things more for both proving and equation set-up and solving."
"We discussed basic geometric figures and their relationships. I helped him with his homework while making sure not to tell him answers outright. I challenged him to see concepts and problems from different perspectives."
"We discussed calculating midpoints and the midpoint formula, and then we did related problems. We started moving on to geometric transformations. He is doing very well with the subjects. He was left with pages to go through in his practice book for next week."
