"Today we spent the first half on solving rational equations. We looked at cross multiplication method given a proportion and the distribution of the common denominator for all other types. The last part was spent on reviewing simplification of rational expressions for before."
"We reviewed the material for the student's test tomorrow by repeating the practice problems on the study guide. He did a good job with the material. He was able to complete many of the problems without any help from me. As long as he is able to transfer that performance to his exam tomorrow, he should do well."
"The student had two worksheets for homework covering area and perimeter. We completed one worksheet and she had a strong understanding of the topics. I had noticed that her notes from class also mentioned circles and triangles which were not on the homework. I made a couple of problems involving these concepts and some other area problems with multiple shapes. After those examples we started to finish the 2nd worksheet with the remaining time. She is going to finish it on her own time, and feels comfortable with the concepts."
"Today we worked on multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting complex polynomial fractions. The student did very well with this concept as we worked more problems, and mainly only had trouble with keeping her signs correct. We talked about how her last test went, and she reported that it went very well. I asked if she wanted to go over the test, but she said she was fine with her score and wanted to work on the new material."
"This session the student and I worked on probability using ratios, proportions, and percents. We also worked on finding the mean, median, mode, and range of various sets of numbers. Finally, we looked at how to interpret multiple types of graphs to find data points and recognize trends. He did really well at reading the graphs and using context to find probability."
"The student wanted to go through the review for a test he will be taking on Friday. Terms we discussed: inverse variation, joint variation, complex fractions, rational expressions, cross-multiplying. Problems we worked through involved: solving for the constant and then finding for a given value of x, graphing complex fractions, solving equations using cross-multiplying, and solving/simplifying equations with fractions using LCD."
