Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For the first session, I initially wanted to assess the student's ability in the quantitative section of the SAT. So, during the first half hour or so, he went through a sample section with minimal help. I was able to correct his work and assess areas that he might need some help. Pattern recognition seemed to be the most prominent. He seemed to be well versed in all other areas. We went through another sample section - this one, we went through question by question. When he needed help, we would subsequently go through the specific question step by step. I left him with another sample section to be completed by the next session as well. Lastly, we were able to go through his prep book (Barron's) so that he could pinpoint some areas of difficulty for himself. I plan to bring problems and guides that direct attention to his weaknesses next session so that he can be well prepared for his exam this coming June and perhaps this coming fall as well. "
"During this session, the student and I worked through a quiz and an exam that she had taken, and I helped her through the problems she had missed. We also worked on a practice test and went through the concepts that will be tested in the exams. She definitely knows the material.."
"Today the student and I reviewed the basic grammar and concepts that are being applied in his current Spanish class. We then completed his homework assignment together: we read through the passages in the textbook and answered the corresponding questions in complete sentences, being careful to answer the questions completely with correct verbs, tense, articles, adjectives, and vocabulary. We then went over the new material that was also assigned for homework. This included becoming familiar with a new tense: present perfect. We went over the text as well as examples online. Then he created his own sentences that mirrored the correct usage as illustrated in the text."
"We started off with a review of everything we have learned so far. Then we continued to expand her studying skills to vocabulary and apply what she has learned into that area. She adapted very well and easily picked up the new vocabs. We've also continued the science project she had started on last week and made excellent progress towards the finish line."
"We're working on word problems and critical thinking exercises in math. The student is good at arithmetic. Her progress with complex multiplication/division is going well."
"We finished up her Adobe Illustrator project. She needed to add a graph and two flags. This was a fairly simple session and our last one. The trickiest part of this project was the pie chart and the bar graph. Making them is straightforward, but editing them can be difficult. All in all, she's satisfied with her final project."
