Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has already completed the written portion of her final exam. We spent this session reviewing listening exercises for that portion of her exam next week. I taught her how to pick out key words so that she can get the gist of a monologue or dialogue without needing to understand every word. I also advised her to review her vocabulary from the semester."
"The student knows her material very well. We worked on a short reading section for homework and writing sections with irregular verbs and the present perfect subjunctive in Spanish. I urged her to paraphrase when answering short questions to the short story in her textbook. We practiced with conversation and using the subjunctive tense as well as using "El medio ambiente" or the environment vocabulary."
"Today we did a practice of specific grammar and vocabulary for the student's final exam. We also worked on pronunciation and different methods of reasoning with the grammar and thus finding the right answer for the multiple choice final test."
"My second session with the student was very productive. We began organizing his course work over the course of the semester and set up a study plan for his final exam this coming week. We also conjugated a variety of verbs, concentrating on some irregulars, in different tenses, to help solidify those he was less confident in. We are meeting again the evening before his exam to review and go over any last-minute questions he may have."
"Today we went over a review for Chapters 1 and 2 using exercises from the book. The student talked to his teacher who said the test would be entirely on grammar (multiple choice) and a short essay. We went through practice multiple choice problems in the book and had him write a short essay which I corrected. I instructed him to focus on proof-reading and memorizing irregular verbs. He seems confident that he will do well on the final Tuesday. We will further study vocabulary and irregular verbs for test prep."
"We worked a good part of the workbook on the present progressive, the gerund. The student did an excellent job. He was able to pull together so many of the elements of Spanish that we've worked on. At the end, we watched two videos that we had watched at the very beginning of our first sessions. It was nice to see how he has progressed. I will miss our sessions."
