Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent the session completing math worksheets that I provided. She worked hard on finding areas of quadrilaterals and triangles. We spent some time on a study site from her school's webpage. She completed lessons on mean, mode, and median. I also had a worksheet on this that she worked on."
"The student had a few pages left to complete his packet of worksheets on percentages. Although he already tested, we thought that a completed packet will earn him more points when turned in for credit. He has become quite comfortable setting up the percentage proportion and is solving with accuracy. He is also able to solve more involved problems that require discounting or marking up a price, and then adding tax. After he completed the packet, we went back to review changing numbers from fractions to percents to decimals. Going back and forth can be confusing, but he is gaining confidence and accuracy."
"The student has his final next week, so we covered several topics that he has already seen. We mostly reinforced different equations of a line and how to achieve slope intercept form given two points. He felt like he knew that material. I believe he does know the material, but he needs to be more careful. I taught him a couple ways to check himself to make sure his answers are correct. We are to meet once more before his final."
"Today, we nearly completed an entire AP Calculus practice test. We worked on both the calculator and non-calculator multiple choice sections. Then, we finished one of the three free response tests. Overall, the student is recalling old material fairly easily, but still needs to remember some concepts/equations from the past."
"We went over chapter 14 and 15 from her textbook, talking about concepts as well as doing review questions. We went over limits and limit theory, as well as derivatives. With few exceptions she seems very confident in derivatives, though she has a slightly harder time with the limits. Overall I felt the session went well and that the student, though she might not have understood something at first, quickly picked it up."
"The student and I went over her recent test on logarithmic and exponential functions and the mistakes that she made. Most of her errors were minor. She had a very positive attitude and had all of her materials ready. We also reviewed some of her SAT course materials as well."
