Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the sections on inverse trigonometric functions and how to solve for an angle using inverse functions and given side length. We also reviewed and worked out problems using the law of sines and the law of cosines. We discussed the circumstances under which you would use one or the other."
"For this session, we reviewed some of the concepts since the beginning of this semester so that the student feels comfortable. This included laws of sines/cosines and other right triangle theorems. She understands the material, and now knows how and when to apply them."
"We focused on his geometry homework. He was working on special right triangles and solving right triangles using trig functions. He already knew the basic trig functions but wanted to review applying them to the triangles. We worked through the process of using them to solve triangles until he was proficient at solving them."
"Today the student and I went over the material for her online course, which is essentially a review of the previous semester. We talked about similar and congruent shapes and the theorems that allow us to prove if two shapes have these qualities. We worked through her online text together and took some practice quizzes. The student seemed to do pretty well."
"This session and the next session focused on her upcoming exam on Thursday, February 6th. This particular session we focused on addition, subtraction, multiplying and division of radicals as well as solving special right triangles using trigonometry. We also focused on word problems concerning angles of depression and angles of elevation. The student showed a good grasp of knowledge in most of the areas covered. The only area she needed more practice in was the trigonometry section in which she mentioned this was her first time learning this information. We practiced problems in all areas focusing on her test review provided by her teacher. At the end of the session I recommended her to ask questions to her teacher concerning areas she still slightly struggled in."
"I helped the student prepare for a high school entrance exam on Saturday. We reviewed two practice tests he'd been over. I discussed several problem solving strategies that he should use as well as a study plan."
