Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reorganized his weekly schedule, and we made another outside for his upcoming science quiz. We also went over his math homework worksheet. Afterwards, I reviewed it, and we went over any errors in the homework and fixed them."
"We reviewed algebraic inequalities for reasonableness and created number lines to show change in algebraic equations and inequalities. Homework required explanation of reasonableness. This first session took a bit for the student to loosen up, and then she became chatty. I will need to use focusing strategies: work on problem for 5-7 minutes, then off task talk for 1 minute."
"We reviewed and practiced 4 sections in math. She is currently on the 5th section and has a test on Thursday. "
"We reviewed axioms and definitions by working through the student's homework. She made great progress from needing to talk through every step of the problem in depth together in the beginning to being able to complete problems correctly on her own toward the end. For Monday's session she will review the list of topics for the test and identify her greatest needs for improvement. She will also determine, before we meet, which of the problems from her textbook we will work on to prepare her for the test. If at all possible, I asked her to please send me the test-prep list provided by the teacher via email so that I may come prepared with some material myself."
"We reviewed book sections covered from the week. We went through many practice problems from this week's material as well as reviewed what we covered the week before. The student is already showing improvement in her knowledge of the material."
"We reviewed briefly for the student's computer science test. We also worked ahead on some math problems using algebra to solve interest problems. He seemed to do quite well on the work I gave him. His grades are in great shape overall. He has a 95 average in algebra and seems to only struggle in IPC. He seems very prepared for his chapter 2 quiz in algebra and takes a proactive approach in organization and checking solutions."
