Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, the student worked on multiplication tables - 0, 1, 2. He did well on 0 and 1, and we will work more on X by 2 in our future sessions. He also worked on reading comprehension on stories about George Washington and Fossils, which he enjoyed very much. He worked on new sight words and did well. We tied on Hangman, too!! Good job today!"
"The student and I discussed how 5th grade is going so far, and she let me know that this year most of her work will be in English rather than Spanish (other than SS). She also let me know that she will be taking the Science portion of her assessment in addition to the reading and math portions. The student had already completed her homework, so we began reading the novel "The Secret Garden" and answered a few comprehension questions. We will continue reading where we left off tonight at our next session."
"The student and I had a good section. He really understood the material and hopefully will be more cognizant of his minor mistakes going forward. We also worked on the reading section and ways to eliminate answer choice. His homework is a practice test and to practice math problems in a timed environment daily. Going forward, we will work on time management."
"The student and I spent the beginning of our session on several of the quant questions he encountered on his practice exam. We then turned to geometry, covering lines and angles, triangles, and circles. I assigned him all of the geometry questions from the prep guide to make sure he had a comprehensive view of how the topic is tested. Next session, we will wrap up geometry and discuss some strategies to help him get through his first sitting."
"Today I helped the student organize her thoughts for her personal statement. I helped her find the thesis of her life's narrative, and put together and outline for how she'll present her information. We are meeting again on Thursday for final edits."
"We worked on rational numbers. The student was given a timed pretest, which he completed. The pretest allowed us to see that as he is being introduced to a new curriculum of Algebra 2, he needs to apply previous knowledge to help him work smarter. He is a great student, and I enjoy working with him. I gave him a list of our objectives for our upcoming sessions."
