Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed 1st Declension and Conjugation forms in addition to 2nd Declension and Conjugation words. The student seems to understand this material so far very well and his vocabulary (from what we have reviewed so far) seems to be excellent. Translation skills seem to be mostly good as well, though, he needs to approach it more methodically. We will move forward, reviewing all the other material mentioned on his study guide."
"Today the student and I went in a different direction. He is smart enough to move from the beginning Latin book for children to a more advanced Latin course. First I made him created simple Latin sentences which he readily translated. Then we went on to the reading out of chapter 1. I gave him homework to study the new and old vocabulary and to do the exercises out of the back."
"Today was a review day for the test that the student has in Latin tomorrow. On the test would be purpose and result clauses, as well as the irregular verbs volo, nolo, and malo. We systematically reviewed each one. The student did well at recalling each of the grammatical points that we covered during our sessions, but still struggles a bit with the memorization of forms that stem from early Latin lessons. In terms of defining purpose/result clauses and how to form them, he is doing well, but may struggle a bit with the extra flavor added onto the sentences (adjective agreement, prepositional phrases, etc.). At the end, we reviewed more of how to form the subjunctive. He may need to review more of how to form the perfect passive forms, but I think he is in better shape than when we started our tutoring sessions."
