Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted help continuing to prepare for his introductory statistics quiz for entry into nursing school. Today, we focused on hypothesis testing and set up a spreadsheet with formulas because his class in online and timed. He is a very good student and wants to completely understand when and how to use formulas, and then he will be able to jump right to the right setup, enter his data, and make a decision about the answer."
"This session was spent reviewing the process of setting up hypothesis testing and identifying the appropriate test. We then started the introduction of actually conducting the hypothesis testing, which includes selecting the appropriate test within the TI-84 calculator."
"This was our first session and the student informed me that she has really been struggling in the class and needs everything explained clearly for her. I was able to help her today with hypothesis testing for two proportions and I believe that she started to really understand where all of the numbers were coming from and what the formulas meant. I think that once we meet tomorrow she will really understand this concept and we can continue moving forward!"
"Today the student and I continued working on concepts related to the normal distribution and the binomial distribution. We reviewed the formulas and concepts from our last session, and she seemed much more comfortable with the material. Her confidence seems to be improving. She still has a very positive attitude toward learning the material. Our plan is to continue working problems to solidify concepts and to go over materials from her lectures to prep for her next quiz."
"Today the student and I reviewed for an upcoming test. Most of the material covered features of hypothesis testing, including the null and alternative hypotheses, test statistics, p-values, and dependent versus independent samples. She is going to review the material on her own and we are possibly going to work on it some more later."
"Today the student and I reviewed her government homework. We looked up two articles, summarized the details of both, and then wrote a commentary on both. The student did really well with this assignment; she found two really good articles that she felt passionately about, and then was able to give a detailed analysis of both."
