Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued reviewing for the exam. Unfortunately, I did not catch the pages sent to my email before the session, so we did not look over any of that material. I spent the session going over practice problems I put together for the student and reviewed material we worked on over the last several days. He performed great on the problems worked on."
"We continued reviewing methods for solving systems of equations. The student has a good grasp of the table and substitution methods and also does well with the graphing method, as long as he remembers to convert standard-form linear equations to slope-intercept form. He still needs some practice with elimination, which he doesn't find intuitive yet. We will keep working on this."
"We continued the student's review in preparation for an upcoming exam in biology. This half of the review included the structure and function of certain organic compounds. We broke up the review in order of basic structure (first carbohydrates, then lipids, then proteins). For each structure, we went over basic layout, alternative forms of said structure, and the major function/benefit it provides. His main concern just dealt with retaining the vocabulary involved and how it connects to main ideas. We were able to make a supplemental cheat sheet. We spent the rest of the session going over practice test questions and a required study guide."
"We continued to review for a math test on inequalities that the student will be taking today. We had a worksheet and worked through the problems. We solved compound inequalities, graphing the result. We also worked on linear inequality applications (writing a linear inequality based on a particular situation, graphing the linear inequality, and determining if a particular set of points would be part of the inequality). The student worked hard and I hope it all comes together for the test."
"We continued to see improvement with the student. Most of the errors she was making were either simple or conceptual- and those we reviewed. We discussed what she needs to work on to be successful on her next quiz."
"We continued to work with linear equations, this time focusing on finding the X-intercepts, as well as reviewing past material. We also had time to do a few practice problems that focused on linear functions, percentages, and inequalities."
