Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over the basic building blocks of code in Java. I threw a lot at him, but he was able to follow along and apply the basics of what we discussed. Next time we meet, we will take a more focused approach to specific data types and functions. He should download Eclipse Neon for his computer so that he has a coding environment in which to make and run his own code."
"The student worked through an assignment to read album information from a file, fix formatting issues, display the information properly formatted, and keep track of the total album length to determine if it will fit on a CD."
"Today, I made sure that the student was set up with a program to further her coding career. The program is a very helpful IDE to help aid coders in creating fluid programs. She had a lot of fun working with the console/terminal at the end. I plan to send her a tutorial for the program and Java to further her coding career."
"Today, the student and I worked on memory concepts, arithmetic, decision making, equality, and relational operators. He is starting to show good improvement. He was attentive, active, and productive throughout the session."
"Today, we went over a learning tool for penetration testers. We also covered some differences and similarities between certain security measures that people take to prevent vulnerabilities. Today went well."
"Topics covered: Why Java is used, the basic structure of Java (Objects, Class, Methods), basic syntax, variable types, data types, operators, the If-then statement, and other generic questions the student had about Java and Eclipse. The student is completely new to the language, so I used multiple ways to cover/explain a concept. Next session, we will get into more coding examples, structures, and data types."
