Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to go over practice tests, focusing on science during this session. We also went over test taking strategies. I recommended taking one more timed science practice test before the actual ACT test to gauge the timing."
"This was our last session before she takes the ACT, so we spent time going over every single section and the main things that she needs to remember going into the test. We talked about what to look for on the English section, and then the student went through a practice English passage. She did amazing, scoring 100%! Then we reviewed the math section, going over the formulas she needs to have memorized/ be able to recognize, as well as special right triangles and other relationships that the ACT tests. She then did a couple of practice math questions that I specifically picked out. I picked ones that covered linear algebra, geometry, absolute value, and word problems. We then talked about what to expect for the reading section, and she worked on a practice social sciences passage. She also did a few questions from a natural sciences section, since that is one that she finds challenging as well. Finally, we went over the major strategies for the science section and she worked on a practice passage + questions. She only missed one out of the science questions. I think that she is extremely prepared for the test and I have the utmost confidence in her!"
"We started the session by working through some science section problems. I explained the basics of how to approach the section, how to make sense of graphs, and how to maximize your time. If the student can efficiently make sense of what is being asked and then use the graphs appropriately, she should do well. We then reviewed a series of grammatical rules. She seemed more comfortable with them (which is good since they were meant to be review). We finished the session by going over some basic testing tips and how best to prepare the night before. I hope she sees the improvement she desires."
