Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on parametric equations and their relationship to vectors. The student struggled at first with this concept because he didn't understand the relationship to vectors, or real-world applications. After working on a few problems, he was able to grasp the concept much better."
"The student and I worked on material for his upcoming exam on Monday. He has a great understanding of the concepts and works through problems quickly and efficiently. I was helping him with vector summation, tension forces, vector magnitudes, and angle directions. He seems ready for the exam and seems confident with the assigned material and homework."
"She has a test in a few days and has review problems for tonight. She is working on converting between polar and Cartesian coordinates. She is also working with equations dependent on a variable, for instance how to solve for x=2+t and y=2t+3. We were able to review and answer her questions. She really did seem to benefit from our session. I feel that she has a better understanding of the material and will be successful on her upcoming exam."
"The student's assignment was on proofs of equations and inequalities by mathematical induction, so we cemented her understanding of the procedure by working through several examples. Some of the factoring is a challenge for her, and the open-ended nature of some of the inequalities challenged her, but overall the session went quite well."
"The student and I reviewed her homework for pre-calc, and we reviewed her recent assignments and the graded homework that she did last week. She has a test scheduled for this Friday, so it was good to start reviewing for that early."
"Worked on addition of many numbers, fractions (converting to a non complex number), worked on addition of fractions by using measuring spoons. Also worked on a test in her book. Left her with flash cards to practice."
"The student worked on his math homework which included proportion and ratios. After working on the problems he was more confident. We also worked on creating a map of the Middle East."
"We continued to cover long division and fractions, but specifically worked on thinking more abstractly about numbers and practicing techniques to help simplify problems. I am seeing improvement."
"We covered specifically adding and subtracting algebraic rational fractions. After covering the topic, I gave the student a brief overview on rational functions. She was able to understand the concepts. Overall, the session was excellent."
"The student wanted to prepare for the Calculus 2 exam. We reviewed convergence and divergence and started going into applications of the ratio test for convergence, factorial expressions, root test for convergence, geometric series/sums, p-series, monotonic/increasing/decreasing/telescoping series and their tests for convergence, and finding infinite sums within an error range."
"Today we went over a homework assignment the student has to complete. The topic was linear and multiple regression. We talked about how to calculate a predicted score from a linear equation as well as how to find associated error scores. Then we ran multiple regression and discussed how to interpret the printout, including how to test the assumptions."
"Biology 2: Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis; Algebra 2: Polynomial long division, synthetic division. The student had a fairly solid understanding of all the material."
