Tutoring review by Michael in West Hollywood, CA
Today we covered chapter 4 in its entirety, 4-1 to 4-6; the focus was logarithmic equations, exponential equations, manipulating between the two to solve, and real-world exponential applications. Compared to the student's familiarity with previous topics, today's logs were a strange concept. In the longer session, though, we were able to introduce logs, solve simple log statements, then move on to log equations and more complex log operations, all without getting too overwhelmed. The goal for next time is to cover a little less material but maintain the same pace AS LONG AS she continues to feel that her learning goals have been met.

The student worked on a worksheet consisting of Newtonian mechanics problems. Over the course of the session it became apparent that we need to work on her approach to problems and possibly work on going over some of the underlying concepts moving forward. She explained that she read her textbook and did not find it helpful, so I intend to see if I can find another resource she can use to help her learn the material.
