How can your Algebra tutor help you?

As your child begins to study algebra, you may notice that they can understand the basics with no issues, but they may start having problems when they get to topics such as X and Y intercepts or how to use linear functions. Or perhaps remedial topics are difficult for them as well, and learning about order of operations and how to use square roots in an equation is proving harder than anticipated. Whatever the case may be, your child doesn't have to go through their studies alone. Our educational directors at Varsity Tutors will find you and your child an expert algebra tutor in Lowell, MA, who will design a study plan that focuses on their specific needs.

Your child's tutor can focus on what your child needs help the most with. That means if you think your child would benefit from having a tutor for the entire duration of their course, we can find a tutor who will work with your child for comprehensive study. If you feel your child is just stuck on specific topics, like working with negative and zero exponents, the tutor will focus on specific topics. Our educational directors will match your child with an algebra tutor in Lowell, MA, who is knowledgeable in a host of alternative teaching methods to best teach to their particular learning style. If your child is a visual student, the tutor can use models and other visual breakdowns of algebra problems to help them try to gain a better understanding of the subject. If you feel your child would benefit more from practice tests, the tutor can arrange that as well.

For the session, the student and I focused on largely on problems that can be solved using prime factorization. I explained some properties of prime factorization, and showed her a good technique to use to figure out if a number is a factor of another number. We then expanded our focus to include prime numbers in general. These problems can get a little abstract, so having a strong concept of the principal of prime numbers is very helpful for solving these types of problems. As the student is exposed to more of these advanced problems, my hope is that the fundamental concepts will seep in.
