Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered confidence intervals today. We went over how to find the margin of error to construct confidence intervals for population means and proportions. We covered when it was appropriate to use z-statistics and t-statistics as well. Additionally, we reviewed how to find the right sample size for a given level of confidence and margin of error. He seemed engaged with the material and began to act more comfortable with the problems towards the end of our session. He has 2 work packets to complete for class this week. We covered a majority of one packet and I left him to work through the problems in the other packet before our next session."
"Today, we did a final review session for the student's first exam. He asked a few conceptual questions from a practice exam and I went through a few videos online pertaining to different post hoc tests and what post hoc testing is used for."
"Today, we covered the student's homework, and we tried to make sense of the problems that were given to her. She ended up completing quite a bit of her homework. Before she left, I gave her advice on how to tackle the test and what she should do to study. Overall, it was a good session."
"We discussed all introduction materials- types of experiments, types of data, ways of sampling, different biases, different variable types, and basic vocabulary. We went through the student's first unit packet- highlighting ways to recall the specific terms. We also discussed different examples that applied to the various vocabulary terms. Then, we went over her first homework assignment. I think she just needs practice using and applying the new terms. Towards the end of the session, she was able to correctly answer questions using the vocabulary words. We discussed making flashcards to help remember the new terms and creating tables to help apply the terms. We also talked about best ways to approach multiple choice questions. I think she will do well in this course with my extra help on the side."
"We went over z-score calculations and percentile calculations. We used problems off of the student's HW. On Wednesday, we are going to work on similar problems and anything else that the student has questions on for his Thursday exam."
"The student is taking Intro to Stats. We reviewed his entire syllabus and created a study plan. He is starting with basic concepts. Some of it is review. Today, we covered types of measurement and variables, properties of the normal distribution, skewness, kurtosis, and sampling distributions. We started on z-tests and will work on homework problems next session."
