Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we completed the review material for the student's final exam. We worked on definite integrals, he is able to integrate definite integrals, but he performed integration before simplifying the equation intended for integration. We worked on simplifying equations prior to integration. He will review the problems we worked on in our last session before our final review session this Monday."
"We worked through angular momentum and conservation of angular momentum, as well as an introduction to Hooke's Law."
"We did a review and had a discussion of an essay I assigned the student during our last session on political debates. We spoke about his essay and the debate for a full 1 hour and 45 mins, and he enjoyed it very much. He did a great job of being able to support his viewpoint."
"In this session, we worked on the SAT math and writing primarily. We looked at the student's PSAT scores and went through a number of the problems in these sections. Overall, it seems he has the concepts down, but he just doesn't know where to begin when doing these problems. It seems he could benefit greatly from working backwards from the answers if need be, as this will let him know which of the answers fit the information without having to set up his own equations. For the grammar and writing, it seems he has most difficulty with making judgmental calls about what sounds better and what punctuation would best fit. I suggested that he overemphasize the punctuation when re-reading to ensure he has made the best choice and to choose the shortest answers whenever possible."
"We moved through both data sufficiency and geometry today, with excellent results. The student should pay special attention to d=rt and go out of her way to find rate problems. We did some ratio-based problems as well, which went nicely."
"We reviewed the student's homework, which had only one error, in drawing conclusions. We continued looking over the outline on comparing and contrasting a poem to a quote. We focused on the hook and conclusion. In the ISEE/SSAT book, we went through analogies together and circled unknown words to add to the student's vocab practice list."
