How can MCAT tutoring help you succeed?

If you have any interest in attending medical school, you may need to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). This exam is used as part of the admissions process for medical schools. The exam is one of the most complex standardized tests you may take, which is certainly understandable, as the medical field is one of the most difficult career areas to enter into. The test is made up of four different sections, and it takes seven and a half hours to complete. The four sections include psychological, social, and biological foundations of behavior; critical analysis and reasoning skills; chemical and physical foundations of biological systems; and biological and biochemical foundations of living systems.

The psychological, social, and biological foundations of behavior section places an emphasis on biology, sociology, and psychology. The critical analysis and reasoning skills section focuses on reading comprehension in the fields of social science and humanities. The chemical and physical foundations of biological systems section includes questions concerning physics, organic chemistry, general chemistry, biology, and biochemistry. The biological and biochemical foundations of living systems section has questions about biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and basic biology. The complexity of these sections may make the MCAT quite intimidating. If you do not feel like you are making enough progress to be prepared for taking the MCAT, it may benefit you to contact a private tutor. Varsity Tutors may connect you with tutors in Louisville, KY, who are skilled at helping students prepare for the MCAT.

Session Summaries by MCAT Tutors

Louisville, KY MCAT tutoring
We covered passages in the book and online that went over topics such as electrostatics, the immune system, the digestive system, oscillations and waves, and pendulums. Overall, while the student did exceptionally well in most of the passages, particularly the biology topics and the oscillations/ waves/ pendulums topics, she had a more difficult time on the electrostatics passages and the concept of Newton's 3rd law applied to two different charges. Most of her content knowledge is solid but she still has trouble with more difficult physical science passages like in E+M. She has improved since starting our sessions and her performance in the passages we do together keeps climbing. I have a positive outlook for her future success based on our sessions at this point in time.
