How can a GMAT tutor help you?

If you may soon be applying to business schools with hopes of being admitted to one with a great MBA program, then you are likely taking the GMAT, or Graduate Management Admission Test, in the near future. To help you prepare for this important test, Varsity Tutors may help you find a professional GMAT tutor in Louisville, KY, who may offer you engaging study sessions to make the most use of your time. Good business school administrators know that the GMAT is a great way to gauge who may perform well in their programs, so they take this score very seriously when choosing who to admit into their programs with limited seats. When a tutor helps you prepare for your exam, they may create a study plan for you, tailored to your subject strengths and weaknesses that may help you prepare quickly and efficiently when time is limited.

An expert GMAT tutor in Louisville may help you work towards meeting your studying goals. Like all students, you likely have subject areas that you know you are stronger in than others. The GMAT consists of four sections: Quantitative Reasoning (math), Verbal Reasoning, Integrative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing (essay). Your tutor may create a study plan catered to your specific needs, and you may spend more time studying for the areas of the test you are weakest in, and less time in the areas you feel confident about earning good scores in.

Louisville, KY GMAT tutoring
The student and I reviewed a few problem solving questions from her homework before completing our review of substantive algebraic concepts, including hard simultaneous equations and quadratics. We then did a quick introduction to sentence correction. Next session, we will turn to subject-verb agreement.

We did some very difficult problems from your test today. The toughest aspect is simply seeing which problems are easier to backsolve from the answers (like x^2*y^2) and which may be better using an algebraic approach (the one about surveys). We also looked at a few critical reasoning...I'll send much more of these your way.

Today was my first meeting with the student. We began by discussing her history with the test, the things she's done so far to prepare, her general background in math and grammar, and her overall goals. Then, we moved on to review the diagnostic test I had her take before our meeting. This allowed us to discuss a few core concepts, including the answer choices and general theory behind Data Sufficiency questions. We also reviewed a few Geometry concepts, including area and circumference of circles, similar triangles, and the Pythagorean Theorem. We finished up by reviewing the list of concepts she's going to need to memorize and by planning out our next few sessions. Before next week's session, she's going to finish reviewing the practice test and start on the first two chapters of her lesson book. She's also going to do 10 Data Sufficiency and 10 Problem Solving questions in the prep book.

For our final session, the student and I reviewed another practice test rather comprehensively. He wants to score in the high 30's, so he can't afford to make basic mistakes on the sections he is best at (science, writing, math). Reading has consistently been a bit trickier, but I am confident that he will do well if he takes time to practice on his own.

This afternoon, the student and I spent 90 minutes reviewing old property essays for her exam next week. The essays covered freehold estates, concurrent estates, conveyancing, and title insurance. We went through the IRAC model for each issue and together developed "attack sheets" for each subject. We discussed multiple choice questions as well. I recommended that she pick a source that offered several hundred multiple choice questions and the explanations to the answers as well. I told her that going into the Bar Exam, which tested 200 MBE questions, I did 1500 practice questions and explanations. So, for her property exam, which has 30 multiple choice questions, she should be doing about 200-300 multiple choice questions and answers. We will be meeting again Thursday night for Con Law.
