Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on graphing inequalities, rationalizing denominators, factoring, solving a system of equations using substitution or elimination, and exponents. The student is understanding the concepts; she just needs to watch out for simple mistakes such as negative signs."
"We looked over the student's last test, on which she got an 84%. Her only real issue on that test was remembering negative signs in each step of the problem, so we worked on ways to remember the negative sign. We then started looking at problems on her review for her exam next week. She just needs reminders of formulas and little key points, so we made flashcards to help her remember. We'll meet again just before the exam to make sure she is prepared."
"We continued to work on solving systems of equations during this session, and the student continues to complete these exercises very well."
"We worked on combining like terms, fractions, and quadratic functions. The student struggles with laws of exponents the most. He works very hard to understand the material being taught to him. I left him with extra practice on laws of exponents, adding polynomials, subtracting polynomials, and multiplying polynomials."
"The student did really well on today's topics (creating x/y tables and graphing). They haven't covered much new material, so we also reviewed basic concepts of domain and range and functions. He was able to answer all of my review questions easily. We also looked ahead briefly at the next section (finding function rules based on graphs/ tables). We only covered the first few examples, but he appeared to comprehend it well."
"We did practice problems on writing the vertex form of an equation. The student did very well and was happy with the session. A second session has been scheduled for Saturday. At that time, we will review completing the square."
