How can a Science tutor help you?

Is your child is having a hard time grasping concepts like genetics, light waves, or cycles in their science class? If so, you may want to consider finding them a private tutor who can assist them with any science topics they are having trouble with. Varsity Tutors can help you in your search for a professional and dedicated science tutor in Long Island, New York. A private tutor can meet with your child at a time and place that you determine is best for your schedule. They can work with your child online as well.

Long Island, New York, science tutors can work with your child in a one-on-one environment, allowing them to feel comfortable asking as many questions as they need. Because your child is the only student working with their tutor during the session, they can receive personalized lessons focused solely on their learning needs. This individualized attention also means that your child and their tutor can choose to cover only the topics that your child needs help with, rather than going over each aspect of the course. It would be redundant and unnecessary, for example, to cover a topic like ecosystems when your child has a full understanding of that area. Their time with their tutor would be much better spent working on areas that they are confused on, perhaps oceanography. Your student can also choose the pace at which these topics are covered. For instance, their instructor may be teaching the class at a much faster speed than your child can absorb the information being taught. If this is the case, it may be beneficial for your child to go over these same concepts slowly with their tutor. This can allow for them to ask the questions they need to.

Long Island, NY Science tutoring
Yesterday the student and I began to cover bimolecular substitution reactions. Specifically looking at mechanisms, arrow pushing, electron movement, and stereochemistry. The student was able to perform most problems with relative ease. However she was struggling most with inversion of the stereo-center. I left her no extra practice and I have no concerns from the session.

We covered how to handle the concepts of starting problems with acids and bases. This included titration problems and general concept based questions. The student stumbled the most on knowing which way to do specific problems. I left him with the worksheet that he had completed with the teacher in class, and told him to keep working through those problems until he felt comfortable doing them. He seems to be learning a lot and trying hard to grasp all of the concepts.

We continued going through the review material which I had prepared. We went over the periodic table, nuclear chemistry, nuclear energy, and ions. He decided he could do some review over the weekend on his own in preparation for his test, and we will meet again on Monday. As such I told him which sections to go over and on Monday we will quickly review them and continue with the other material.

We spent this session working on the remaining problems on the student's exam review sheet, focusing on reaction balancing and product prediction. He has worked hard to pull his grade up, and I've seen serious improvement. He deserves much credit for working hard, and I'm very proud that he made it happen.
