How can a Physics tutor help you?

Simple harmonic motion may not be simple for you to comprehend. If you are finding this to be true in your physics class, or perhaps other concepts are tripping you up, then it might be time to call in a tutor. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a passionate physics tutor in Long Island, New York. You can work with your tutor at a place and time that you find to be most convenient for your schedule. You can also work with them online, going over topics such as balanced forces, magnetic forces, and inelastic collisions.

Long Island, New York, physics tutors can help you work through your trouble spots in the course in a one-on-one environment. You can decide if you want to cover a wide variety of concepts you may be confused on, or you may simply want to solidify certain concepts that are on an upcoming exam. The choice is yours. Because you are your tutor's only pupil during your tutoring sessions, your personal learning needs are the only concern for lessons. This means you can ask your tutor to quickly review displacement or other concepts that you are not completely confident in and receive a more in-depth explanation of kinematic formulas or any area you struggle with. You and your tutor can work together to design a customized lesson plan that is tailored to your learning goals and needs. You can also choose the pace at which you and your tutor cover the topics you go over. If you find your instructor goes too quickly through the material in class, your tutor can slow things down and walk you through the concepts. This allows you to pepper your tutor with questions and stop them the moment you become confused on a lesson.

I met with the student for the first time. We worked on a few problems together, and I made sure he comprehended the problems -- beyond simply knowing how to obtain the answers. The problems covered the electric field and electric potential coming from systems displaying spherical and cylindrical symmetry. The student found the session to be useful, so we will meet again.

Long Island, NY Physics tutoring
The student completed physics problems dealing with simple machines, mechanical advantage, and efficiency. He picked up on the concepts quickly after a little instruction. He did need a little guidance with some of the problems, but these are all brand new concepts so it is understandable. He also did math problems dealing with algebra, finding the equation of a line using matrix math and polar coordinates. He has been routinely writing out the steps to the problems he does, so I think we are making progress on that front.

We reviewed chapter 5 (momentum, impulse). We read through the chapter, discussed what everything means, we referenced a college physics book, and we did many problems throughout her text. The student did a great job, and the material seems to be clicking now.

Long Island, NY Physics tutoring
Today the student and I covered the projectile motion problem again and I think she's getting a better grasp of separating the horizontal and vertical planes of motion. I gave her two additional problems to work on. We also started going into the concept of work which was good because then we reviewed friction and normal force as well as free body diagrams. Once again the student grasped the basic concept very easily (I tested her with some sample questions), but the more convoluted questions were difficult for her. I think more practice and review will be fantastic for her. Hopefully this was a good crash course introduction to physics!
