"Today I quizzed the student on his weakest subjects prior to his final geometry exam tomorrow. I mostly invented variations of problems given in his review packet from class using new numbers with particular emphasis on algebra and computationally heavy problems. He excelled in these problems and I rarely had to correct him for simple mistakes. I'm glad we got two days of tutoring completed for his exam and I am confident he will do well."

"During our session, the student and I discussed angles. We went over how to label angles, how to create them, and how to evaluate them. We discussed complementary angles and supplementary angles. I then assisted him with his second writing assignment, "Angles"."
"First part of the final review:
We went over all of the practice problems given to her by her teacher for the final. Topics covered: similar figures and solids (ratios), trigonometry, circles (chords, tangents, secants, etc.), volume and surface area (regular, composed, and cutout solids), polygons, and word problems. The student was familiar with all the material, so she did well with most of the problems."
"We went over the student's review worksheet for an upcoming quiz on volumes and surface areas of solids. We reviewed how to find the surface areas and volumes for rectangular prisms, cubes, and square pyramids. We also went over backsolving for sides and areas of figures from their volumes. Overall, the student seemed to understand the material very well."
"The student worked on both geometry and chemistry today. She has a chemistry quiz on Thursday so we reviewed equilibrium in preparation. She knows how to write the equilibrium expressions and solve them. We spent most of the time discussing how changes in temperature, pressure, and concentration affect equilibrium."
"I worked with the student on standards of determining the surface area of a sphere as well as reviewing standards that will be on his final. He was able to correctly complete the previous standards that we reviewed so he is more prepared for his final."
"We set up a schedule for the student to follow for the days leading up to finals and the days during finals. Following the plan and adjusting it according to her needs is her best bet to finish the quarter strongly. We began with reviewing chapter 11 for geometry by completing that section in her study guide booklet."
"The student and I reviewed her last test which covered area. She was able to turn in test corrections to raise her grades. I stressed the importance of not only knowing the formulas but practicing using them before the test. We also started on surface area. The most confusing parts included determining the slant height (as opposed to height or lateral edge) to calculate lateral area and remembering the special right triangles to quickly find side lengths. I left her with step by step instructions for finding surface area as well as a review sheet that I recommended she fill out with the area formulas. Since our next meeting is the day before the final, she will review on her own and bring any last minute questions to our session."
"Today we continued our work on more of the same. We covered multiple theorems concerning inscribed angles in circles, figuring out a shortlist of strategies to use to solve the problems. Triangles adding up to 180 is one, using radii to create right triangles is other things. We reviewed what conclusions can be drawn, and what cannot be drawn, from certain information. The student has a test tomorrow, hopefully he will do well! He got a 92 on his last one, which was excellent."
