Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on using descriptive words instead of just stating facts. We did discuss, however, the importance of using who, what, when, where, why and how in order to fully answer a prompt/question. We also touched on stating the noun specifically (instead of starting with "it). His final written response showed great improvement. He was great to work with and was very engaged."
"We reviewed the student's class papers and practiced some more organization skills. The student needs some practice, but over-all, did well. Next, we went over his English homework, and practiced "active reading": summarizing each paragraph of the text in a sentence or two, and then summarizing the entire piece in a sentence. The student become more confident with his ability to quickly and accurately identify the "main idea" of the paragraph or passage being read."
"The student and I prepared for his English and Spanish tests for this week. For Spanish, we reviewed the extensive vocabulary that he needed to remember. A lot of this work will be memorization in the future so he plans to dedicate a little more time to memorize specific words. We also practiced speaking in Spanish. For English, we summarized the entire epic of the Odyssey and reviewed major themes and allegories. According to the student, he did really well on his English seminar and was one of the students that participated the most. Nice job!"
