Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is now getting the accurate answers for most of his homework. He is much more efficient at following calculations and using the rounding rules implied by these kind of computer-based problems. I think he understood the formulas and the problem settings, and he is more familiar with the calculations."
"The student and I worked hard on math. We also did a small amount of an English project and looked at science."
"We worked on systems of linear equations in three variables; we got most problems, but there are a few we need to come back to for more review."
"In this meeting, the student and I worked through two sets of problems that he had for homework. These included algebraic word problems, graphing functions, and simple statistics. He has no problem with algebraic operations. I believe that the session was helpful due to his level of preparedness and focus. I have noticed over the past few weeks that he is steadily improving in his grasp of various math concepts."
"The student and I had a lot of fun drawing an animal using dozens of algebraic equations for parabolas, hyperbolas, lines, circles, and semicircles. He was quite good at most of it, and just needed a little bit of support when it came to transforming the basic functions and defining appropriate domains and ranges. He was focused, polite, and did quite well."
"In this session with the student, we reviewed his previous quiz testing graphing in a Cartesian coordinate plane, on which he scored 26/30. He did very well, but just made a few small mistakes that were associated with either reading the question too fast or not checking his answers. I made sure to reiterate how much progress he's made since the start of the school year, boosting his grade from a C to an A-! I believe he has made great strides in handling test-associated stress, and he just needs a bit more practice in order to truly become comfortable with these types of settings. We then looked ahead in the chapter, and he received more practice with word problems involving systems of linear equations. I look forward to helping him continue to master his test-taking strategies to give him the edge he needs to truly succeed."
