Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over a time management workshop that was in PPT format. We talked about various study habits to apply for different classes."
"The student and I organized his binder and cleaned it out. We also discussed some organizational skills. Then we tackled a review of a couple of homework assignments and strategized about study skills."
"The student and I went over his essay assignments for final grades. He made changes and completed them for grades."
"I mainly edited the student's essay for flow. There were a few cases of phrasing and word choice that I thought could be improved. I also told her that parts of one section could be eliminated if she needed to get lower on her word count. No concerns from this session."
"I worked through the essay with Google docs. I thought the student needed to work on some word order and on rearranging sentences so they made better chronological sense. I encouraged him to find more descriptive vocabulary to describe his actions and feelings in the essay. I encouraged the strategies of reading out loud and critical reading. I asked the student to complete the essay based on the revisions given. I saw a draft and a prompt question. No concerns- a win based on his involvement and improvement in structure and vocabulary."
"She and I finished up most of her college supplemental essays today! (Woohoo!) Her common app essay just needed a few last tweaks, and now it is set to go. We also finished up all but one of her nine college supplementary questions. She did a great job writing all of her essays and keeping up her level of creativity with each one. She is going to work on her final short answer about why she is interested in computer science and then submit that college app! Then, the work begins again working on brainstorming supplemental questions for other schools in case she is not admitted to the college. We will likely have that session once her college app is entirely completed and submitted and off her mind."
