Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the practice sheets for the student's test. Predominantly, we worked on the factoring, logarithm, and exponent questions. We are going to review them again at the next session."
"Began to review for the student's final. We revisited rational expressions and breaking them down for intercepts, asymptotes, and holes. We then reviewed logarithms. Lastly we went over transformations of functions and how to graph them. His final is on Friday."
"We reviewed for the pupil's precalculus final. We covered properties of polynomial functions, exponential functions and trigonometric functions. After answering her questions, we did a few practice problems from this session. Overall, I think she is prepared and, with more studying, she should have no problem getting a high grade on the final."
"The student and I worked on rules of logarithms, as she has a quiz on the material coming up. We went over expanding and consolidating logarithmic functions. We worked on solving logarithmic functions and looked at several strategies for doing so. We used the SOHCAHTOA acronym to find angles in triangles. We also covered the principles behind logarithms that will help her manipulate them freely and see them in ways most people don't."
"We covered two sections of a chapter on trig formulas including sum and difference formulas, halfangle and doubleangle formulas, and proving identities. The student said this session really helped her."
"During the student's session, we covered logarithms and exponents for the majority of the session. We went through most of her homework mostly trying to focus on harder problems so that she can do the easier ones on her own. Near the end we went through another quiz. I asked her to begin to go over all the quizzes so that she can have solutions to study from, and also she should work with some friends to create an equation sheet for review."
"We started the session with physics working on a problem involving a cart being pushed and pulled that had a man sitting on top of it. The key to solving it came down to reading the question in its entirety. We then moved on PreCalculus. We discussed the how to calculate the amplitude and period of a sin, cos, or tan graph. We also discussed how to graph dampening harmonic graphs involving sin and cos."
"Today we discussed chapter four, which was an intro to trigonometry. I had prepared notes for the seven sections. While we went through the notes, we also worked through some of the problems on his worksheets."
"We went over her quiz review on De Moivre's Theorem and its applications. The student had very little struggle with this subject and was able to do the problems with ease. I left her to finish the rest of the review sheet on her own. Overall, the session was excellent."
"The student had a lot of work to do and review of trigonometry. We worked a lot on the unit circle in Algebra 2 and in assessment prep together."
"We covered stating the domain of various graphs and functions and also figuring out if functions were odd or even. I left him to continue on through his packet and to note questions he will have tomorrow."
"We spent most of the day covering unit circle problems and some trig identities. (csc = 1/sin, etc.)
He remembered some things from the last time we reviewed, but I am waiting for his quiz to get back to see if he has any other areas that need review.
We worked on finding values of radians that are outside the first quadrant since there will be no calculators on his quiz."
