Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted help developing an electronic circuit for a project he had recently started. He informed me of the parameters of the circuit and of the components he wanted to use; and what he wanted the circuit to achieve. I went over the some basic electricity concepts with the student that would be pertinent to his project. And I gave him some tips on how to test his prototype circuit, so that he could verify it would perform as he wanted. Our session ended at 4pm."
"This session served as a review for the student's upcoming AP biology test, scheduled for Thursday of this week. Her teacher does not really provide notes for students during class, as she mentioned they typically do demos, rather than focus on the material for tests/ quizzes. Given the time restraint, we utilized the AP biology study guide (less dense version of the textbook) instead. I had her take notes as we read Chapter 6, and the majority of Chapter 7 aloud -- the material focused on cell structures and organelle functions, and membrane structure and functions, respectively. She defined vocabulary words, made charts/ tables, and drew pictures that catered to her learning needs as a student. She was definitely more comfortable with the material by the end of the session, as we went over as much as we could efficiently, given the time restraint of the session. I instructed her to finish reading Chapter 7 in the study guide and takes notes just as we did during the session. Hopefully this will make a difference in her test grade."
"We worked on unit conversion, percent composition, density and mixtures. She did her homework, and we completed some practice tests."
