"Did all parts of an ACT test, except the writing section. The student misses very few reading questions, and I believe he will do very well, especially on that section of the test."
"The student is finally where she wants to be with the reading section. We continued to talk about the reading, and then I had her do three full passages in tutoring with the goal of coming in at 9 or fewer minutes. She managed the time well and missed 3 questions on the first passage but only missed 1 on the second passage and got a perfect score on the third. She is doing the fourth as study. Her confidence was boosted by this, which is good going into her full-length practice exam. She had completed three passages for English, and we had her finish out the section. She has never had any problem with timing on English, and she got minus 11 overall for a section score of 28. I do think she's capable of getting a point or two better than this, as she has been missing a lot of comma questions lately that she previously would get correct. We looked at science, where her timing is hovering just around correct. She might not have time to answer the last question on the test, but overall she tends to go 15 seconds over or 15 seconds under. Her scores are good overall here, although she does tend to run into a passage or two per section that trip her up. Most recently, she did four passages and missed 0 on the first, 1 on the second, 3 on the third, and 2 on the last. This is right about in line with where she wants to be. She plans to take a full-length practice test on Friday before Saturday's session, and Thursday will largely be spent focusing on any further areas she feels less confident in to pump her up for the full-length test."
"The student got a 33 composite on his practice ACT. To help him grow more accustomed to the shifts in content throughout the test, we ran an abridged ACT today also; he got a 33 composite here too, this time with high English and Science scores and low Math and Reading. We will keep practicing."
