Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on homework covering arithmetic sequences, identifying arithmetic sequences, finding the common difference and then using the information about the common difference and a preceding term to find the following or the previous term in a sequence. He finished his homework quickly so we moved on to the second part of the arithmetic sequence section, the arithmetic mean and finding the nth term in a sequence. He reviewed the two equations and how to use them to find the arithmetic mean the nth term, then worked on several example problems. We had a little time at the end to introduce the geometric mean."
"I worked with the student on a subtraction portion of his worksheets. After we were done with this I timed him on his addition flashcards. Finally we went over the concept of fractions. He did a very good job of concentrating today; I think it was partly because I timed him to see if he could get his work done more quickly, which he did."
"The student and I covered the same concepts we did last session. We reviewed square roots and simplifying square roots. We than moved on to Pythagorean theorem and finished with cross multiplication. He is ahead of the class currently and I told him to master the concepts we covered. He plans on reading the chapters now and relearning what we covered."
"We worked on the student's current problem set. It involved the use of the Excel data analysis add-in to do linear regressions. He mastered the technique!"
"He worked on two worksheets tonight: using order of operations to solve a problem; comparing and ordering numbers (whole numbers and decimals); writing numbers in standard and expanded form. He did well with all the topics. I think he did a great job today, and he said that he was happy with how much he was accomplishing. He completed both the worksheets."
"The student worked mostly on her math homework (solving right triangles using sohcahtoa functions on calculator) and reviewing for Saturday's ACT."
