Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over some math problems and I helped explain some math concepts to her. She seems to be very bright and understand the math when I break it down and explain it. However, it appears as if she is uncomfortable with the subject material. I think it will help her if we work on her breaking down problems and playing around with them and having some fun."
"In today's session, the student and I continued to review Chapter 7 in his textbook. He will have a test on this material when he goes back to school. We covered Inertia, Moments of Inertia, Torque, and Rotational Kinetic Motion. We practiced several problems dealing with these topics and the rotational motion topics that we covered in the previous session."
"Warm-up writing, division by 4, logic problems with multiplication and division, began the first draft of the narrative essay, drawing animals, Trinidad and Tobago notes on Carnival, handwriting, and reading."
"The student and I went over the 3rd ACT test. She seems to be working faster through the tests. The student also has a better understanding of what she needs to do when she sees the trigonometry and algebra questions."
"Today we began work on arcs, measuring them, and finding their length. Their homework was to fill in the notes on the chapter that had been assigned and then do some problems on it. After our session she understands the concepts pretty well."
"We covered several science objective questions, and the student seemed to be stronger in this area than in math. We then covered a few more math concepts before concluding the session. The student will take a full-length Science assessment test exit exam and a full-length Math assessment test exit exam this weekend."
"Worked through practice problems together, out loud, on reading, math, and language sections. Reading went well, with only a few tricky questions. Student is good at looking back in passage and finding details quickly. Math was a breeze; only missed two due to simple errors. Language (usage and spelling) was hardest. Will plan to practice more on that section."
"Went over study guide for his upcoming lab exam. I also gave him a review synopsis for him to work with. The topics were all related to various essays used to identify the kind of bacteria that may be growing."
"We reviewed an assignment in Biology. I made sure the student understood the questions and then guided him to the appropriate readings to find their answers. It involved the phylums Mollusca and Annelida."
"The student is progressing nicely and demonstrated ability to conjugate the verbs on her class list into the imperfect tense as she was asked. We focused on the prep workbook from class to complete our tasks."
"Lab test review. Reviewed: broths, agar, slants, colony morphology, thioglycollate broth, Rodac plates, Sabouraud agar, colony forming units, anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, differential media, selective media, specific and non-specific media, and bacterial growth characteristics in broth."
"The student and I reviewed some problems from his assignment. His problem solving ability continues to improve. The next area for improvement is time management and motivation. I assigned the rest of the problems for next session (Sunday)."
