Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He has two tests this week, one covering the current chapter, and one a quarterly assessment. We worked through his study guide and previewed the material that will be on the end of quarter assessment. We also looked at his other courses, and made a plan for making up what work he has missing."
"I covered fertile angles, complementary angle, supplementary angle, Pythagorean Theorem, area, graph. The student seemed to understand the theory but had difficulty applying them. I presented material visually and that helped student related to the subjects easier. The student will have test tomorrow. I asked for update of the grade. Student needs to practice working on Algebra problems to gain necessary skills."
"I spent this session going over word problems involving linear equations with her. She learned how to identify the variables and set up the equations without too much difficulty and already had a fair grasp of how to solve the equations. She was having problems with percentages though, so I made a variety of percentage problems to show her how to do them and helped her find an easier way for her to set them up. By the end, she was much more confident in solving them."
"I tutored the student on parallel lines and angle rules and helped her with her homework - she was mostly doing well on it. She also reported that she made an A on her first major test of the year so far - so that was good news!"
"I tutored the student today in Algebra. We prepared for his quiz tomorrow, and covered material including one- and multi-step equations, order of operations, functions, and algebraic proofs. He did well, and is ready for his quiz."
"I worked with the student on simplifying negative radicands into their complex number. Reviewed operations with complex numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I worked with her on simplifying the complex number I when it is raised to powers greater than 3. We worked on solving equations by square rooting and resulting in complex solutions. We also revisited solving quadratics by factoring, and sketching the graphs of quadratics from standard form after finding all the critical points and pertinent info (ex. AOS, vertex, y-intercept, end behavior). She did well and seems to grasp the concepts - she was absent a day from class and not too confident about the material, but that changed as we worked together."
