Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we were able to complete a good chunk of the student's homework on average rate of change and the difference quotient. First, I helped the student decipher how to use the difference quotient and use algebra to simplify the solution. Then, we worked on real world average rate of change questions."
"We covered differentiation of logarithm functions and tower functions using logarithm differentiation."
"We covered product Rule, Differentiation, Endpoint Approximations, and identifying how to set up calculations. The student was excellent; eager to learn and picked up on the material very quickly! Basic lecture style worked well; simply applied scaffolding to build the concepts, then acted solely as an adviser to the practice problems. Two practice approximation problems as well as a few upper-level explanations to help solidify concepts of Product Rule and Graph transitions. They seemed to grasp the concepts very well by the end of the session; they are a quick learner, and I'm pretty confident they have a better grasp of the concepts."
"We covered secant line approximations, graphing secant lines, instantaneous rate of change, and finding the equation of a line tangent to a curve using the limit (first principles) definition of the derivative."
"we covered secant lines and tangent slopes. The student struggled the most with the concept of finding slopes. As always, he had a great attitude towards the reviewed material. "
"We covered solving limits - intrinsic limits, infinite limits, and finite limits. The student struggles mostly with intrinsic function limits, but once we went over a few examples, she got better. She has felt great about this unit. She understands very well. We went through a quick way to solve trig limits, using trig identities. This made it easy to solve some of the more difficult intrinsic questions. We went over her whole review packet, she had more to practice from. I was made aware of her last quiz in which she did pretty well on."
