Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had some practice sheets on for finding the area between two curves and volume of different types of solids from today's class. We went through the problems that she wasn't able to get in class. We talked about how to decide which method for calculating volume was needed based on the wording of the problem and how to visualize or sketch the graph in order to help solve it. The student is becoming more comfortable with these problems as we continue to work through different problems step-by-step."
"We had a good session today. The student and I prepared for his upcoming test. We reviewed fraction, integers, and some Geometry. He has a good attitude and is getting better at showing his work."
"Reviewed using ratios and percent. Worked on Exponential Notation, number theory of large numbers. The student did practice problems for each concept and did well. He is currently studying scientific notation in class. The student did well today and is gaining confidence."
"Today was my first meeting with this student. After discussing quite a few details we began to work on academics, she worked on a worksheet for chemistry that discussed stoichiometry. Quite a bit of this worksheet, she was able to finish on her own. After working on chemistry we began to work on algebra. She is able to remember definitions and concepts but at times has a difficult time translating what is being asked of her and what she thinks is being asked of her. We will work on that in future sessions. As for other subject areas, she worked on her algebra assignments as well. She had a worksheet to complete with little direction from her teacher. She had to find the necessary information to solve the problems. I would like to set deadlines for her due to her performance on her homework. In my opinion, I would like to see her have more due dates not to stress her out but to give her a final step towards turning in her assignments."
"The student had math homework. It is a worksheet called, "Exemplar" where she is asked to solve a word problem in 3 different ways. She is asked to document the process she goes through. I guided her through, and she finished. Once the homework was done, we had time for two Sunshine Math problems on Sheet # IV. Her materials are great! She has pencils, paper, and a folder, all of which she used!"
"During our last session together we did some review for the student's upcoming chapter test. It was really a pleasure working with her these past several months. She is really smart, and perhaps at times lacks a little confidence in her ability, but I think together we were able to build that confidence up - she really knows what she is doing. She definitely deserves to be in the accelerated section next year, and should not have a problem keeping up with the work. I wish her the best for the rest of the school year and in finishing up middle school!"
