Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our first session, which was also somewhat of a mentoring session. Getting to know each other and getting comfortable were paramount to building our relationship. Once we got to know each other, we played educational games so I could assess her academically. We also worked on her math, for which she was grateful."
"The first thing I did when I got there was look over the student's agenda! He has been writing in his agenda every day and has turned his assignments in on time. He found that it is helpful for him to stick a sticky note to his assignment when he has homework so that when he goes home it'll help remind him that he has work to do. I also noticed that by using his agenda he notices his due dates more often. For example, he told me that his science project is due not this Thursday, but the upcoming one. And that we should focus on that more since it's due soon! Today we focused mainly on his science project where he started to type his information down. I told him to get images of the containers he used for his project before the next time I see him, this could be images found online or he can take pictures of the containers he used. His father informed me that his grades did gradually improve."
"I cannot believe how well the student has been doing our last few sessions! I don't think I've ever seen a student make such a turn-around so quickly. He has been polite, patient, and fun to work with, even through all of our finals work. Because of his dedication, we got through a full math review plus two new sections for World History, both of which have exams tomorrow. He has been working so hard these last few days and I can't wait to see his test results this week. Hope this good attitude continues!!"
"Today, the student and I went over his "cheat sheet" and some problems for Geometry. We collaborated on what to put onto his "cheat sheet." We also went over some of his Italian terminology. I told the student that I was going to quiz him on the same terms the next time I see him. Lastly, we went over some of his Weight Training review questions."
"The student's primary task today was to begin working on her Spanish book project. She completed almost all of the text required for the project (i.e., paragraphs for each page). She still needs to finish one paragraph and find 1-2 pictures for each. The project is due next week. We also answered a few questions for a social studies assignment in the last 15 minutes. Overall, a very productive session."
"Today the student worked well. She researched information about Andersonville for her social studies class assignment, and then she wrote a paragraph answering the prompt, and completing the social studies assignment. She has an upcoming science test she needs to continue to study for."
