Read the passage, then answer: What mood is conveyed by the tone of the passage? The lake lies still behind the pine trees, as if it is holding its breath. Morning fog drifts over the water in thin sheets, and the sun turns them silver. A heron stands near the shore, patient and quiet. Even the insects seem to hum more softly here. I sit on a smooth rock and listen. The water makes a gentle tapping sound against the reeds. Far away, a canoe glides across the surface, leaving a slow line that disappears almost immediately. The air smells like wet earth and crushed needles. A breeze moves through the branches, and the trees answer with a calm whisper. I watch ripples widen, then fade, like circles drawn and erased. For a moment, my thoughts slow down. I am not rushing anywhere. I am simply here. When I finally stand, I do it carefully, as if I do not want to disturb the quiet. The lake remains steady, and the day feels wide and unhurried.
