Read the following poem, then answer the question.
"After the Exhibit"
In the museum's west wing, the air is cool enough
to keep marble from remembering hands.
The guard's shoes whisper over polished stone
where arrows insist on forward.
Behind glass, a bowl once held figs;
its crack is labeled, dated, made safe.
Outside the tall doors, the city heat
leans on bus exhaust and late sirens,
but here the lights never flicker,
and time is hung by wire from the ceiling.
I stand between a ruin and its caption
and feel my own life become exhibit.
Which choice best describes the function of the museum west wing setting in the poem?
