Volunteer Notice: Riverside Plant Removal
Volunteers will remove silverleaf vine from the eastern river trail on Saturday. Participants should meet at the visitor center at 8:30 a.m. for identification and tool-safety training. Removal begins at 9:00 a.m. Anyone arriving after the training has started must wait for a crew leader before joining a work group.
Silverleaf vine can regrow from stem fragments. Cut vines must therefore be placed in the marked collection bags, not in ordinary compost piles. Plants with seed pods should be handled only by crew leaders, who will place them in sealed containers.
Light rain will not cancel the event, but lightning will. If lightning is detected before the event, cancellation will be posted on the park website by 7:45 a.m. If it begins after work is underway, crew leaders will direct volunteers to the visitor center.
