Read the story excerpt, then answer the question. 1) Maya and Chen stood at the edge of the school garden, where the soil was dark and damp. A small sign read, "Plant gently—roots are fragile." Maya's gloves were already covered in dirt. Chen's gloves looked brand new, and he kept brushing them off. 2) "Let's try the tallest sunflower seeds," Maya said, grinning. She dug a hole right away with her trowel. Chen squinted at the seed packet. "It says they need full sun and regular water," he said. He spoke slowly, like he was reading each word twice. 3) Ms. Ortiz gave them one watering can and a list of tasks. "You have twenty minutes," she said. "Choose what to plant and label your rows." Maya grabbed the can. "I'll water while you plant," she offered. 4) Chen shook his head. "If we water first, the seeds might float," he warned. He lined up three small stones to mark a straight row. Maya rolled her eyes but waited, tapping her boot. 5) When the wind blew their labels off the table, Maya chased them across the path and laughed. Chen hurried after her, holding the marker tight. "We need the labels to match the rows," he said, sounding worried. 6) They returned with the labels. Maya stuck hers into the soil quickly. Chen pressed his labels down carefully and then patted the dirt flat with both hands. Question: How are Maya and Chen different in how they approach the garden task?
