Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student currently has an 89.4% in the class, which is so close to our goal of an A! We hope that with continued success on his tests and quizzes he will be able to push it up that extra notch. During this session the student and I covered material about WWII. We didn't spend too much time talking about details of each battle but instead focused on the leaders and national movements that were happening around the wartime. The causes and effects were our primary focus."
"This was my last session with this student. We went through an entire practice test. We then did another small multiple choice practice test that focused exclusively on the earliest history that will be included on the exam. It is the part that he was the most worried about. We then did a quick review of all of the history that could be covered - he did very well. He takes the test today."
"We prepared for an in-class essay coming up this week. Primarily we focused on gathering and organizing ideas in a way that she can use to help answer the prompt and write a cohesive essay. We also spent a good amount of time working on how to develop a strong thesis statement."
"We worked on an English discussion, and completed an art history assignment. No concerns for this session."
"We went over how her class has gone so far this semester, as well as looking at some of the specific material she has covered so far this semester. She described her feelings about the class as being one she is handling, but not excelling at. She had a test the day after this session, so we spent a large part of our time discussing what knowledge she needed to have for the test and how she should specifically approach her review for the test. The key element I kept emphasizing was to understand that knowing every little detail was impossible, but having a larger sense of the historical narrative was extremely important. We made few definitive plans for exactly how our sessions would work moving forward, as we wanted to see how she did on her test before figuring what specifically we want to work on over the next few weeks."
"We continued looking at the practice test questions and reviewing the noted pieces in more detail. I've asked him to label images on the image set in order of importance (1=I have no idea, 2=I have some idea, but need review, 3=I feel pretty solid and we'll review after everything else). I hope this helps organize the works in order of importance."
