We went through the reproductive system tonight. We discussed oogenesis and spermatogenesis. We also looked at the role of hormones and their regulatory effect on the reproductive system. We then looked at some key terms, and looked at diagrams/videos to help visualize the process itself. We also reviewed blastoma and cellular replication.

We covered thermochemistry, first defining the terms enthalpy, heat capacity, specific heat, exo-/endo-thermic, etc. Then we worked on the student's worksheets from class covering many problems that involved calorimetry and Hess' Law. I think he had a very good understanding of the topic after our session. I told him to let me know when he would want to meet again before his final exam.

This session continued with the mechanisms of enzyme catalysis. We also began to cover Michaelis-Menten kinetics. The student needed help with enzymology, but I think she is making good progress, especially given the difficulty of the material.

As usual, we reviewed the student's homework and discussed the concepts and questions. This material was pretty easy for her, as it was mostly review of a subjects that we had partially talked about earlier. The thermochemistry concepts she initially had some trouble with, but we got on track very quickly and she understood pretty much everything and was well prepared by the end of the session.
