Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student and I began work on linear equations. We discussed the various forms of linear equations, in particular the properties of slope-intercept form. We worked on how to find the equation given the slope and one point, and how to find the equation given two points. We did a number of algebraic manipulations of linear equations, and a few problems that required distilling a real life problem down to a linear equation."
"The student and I went over the review problems that were assigned as homework. I also encouraged the student to go through the textbook, paying special attention to the purple boxes where equations are explained. "
"Student and I followed the plan provided by reviewing geometry concepts and then working through the problems specified in the plan, including a timed drill on which She scored 2/5 correct. I assigned homework accordingly to help her review the topics she was struggling with - circles, and sums of area."
"The student and I spent the vast majority of our time on energy related equations and how they interact (i.e. kinetic energy vs. potential energy vs. elastic energy). After a few roller coaster examples she seemed to understand everything very well."
"We talked about what the student found challenging when she took the SAT in November. Based on this, we mainly focused on writing multiple choice and reading sections. We discussed specific grammatical principles (to be expanded on in future sessions) as well as overall test-taking strategies."
"The student and I finished up studying for her exam. We continued to go over problems. She has a bit left to do, but she has some time this evening to keep working at her test practice questions. We will touch base in the next day or so to see how she did on her test."
