Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered the following concepts: to be (introduction), to be + location subject pronouns, and present continuous tense. We practiced reading comprehension, and conversational skills. The student's attitude was positive and receptive. She stated she learned new things today. I gave her homework to practice what we studied today. I was able to create a trusting relationship between myself and the student."
"During this session, we worked on reading, spelling, and writing. I worked with the student with books sent home from school. We continued to practice her fluency and comprehension. We also worked with her Level 13 spelling words in preparation for her upcoming spelling test, and she practiced writing the words."
"Today, the student worked on language arts and social studies. He filled out a six page worksheet on verb tenses. He completed this with little help. Next, he worked on a reading assignment and answered several questions about the reading. Lastly, we worked on social studies and answered review questions about ancient Egypt. He did very well."
"We went over the student's debate for tomorrow. I tried to add to her research so she could have more things to cite. I think that we came up with some solid arguments. For when she has to defend them, we also came up with a general theme ("if I wanted fake pyramids, I would save money on plane tickets and go to Vegas") that she can use to help her remember her line of defense against whatever the other person says."
"During the session, the student and I worked on helping him to understand details from the passage we had been working on from last session. We had looked through the passage to compare and contrast certain topics, researching for details and placing them into a graphic organizer for him to make conclusions. In the second half of session, we worked on his online assignments."
"This was my second session with this student, and this interaction was much different than the first. He told me that he had reading and math homework, and I decided to focus our session on his reading homework because that is an area that he is struggling with. I continued to offer encouragement and praise as he worked on his assignment."
