Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did some word problems related to finding distances using right triangles. The student did really well - probably her strongest all-around session I have had with her. She has made a big improvement in algebra and solving equations over the past few sessions which is very good to see."
"We worked on calculating the volume of three dimensional figures. We did a few problems on this concept then moved on to finding the area and perimeter of different polygons. She wanted to practice these two concepts I gave her some practice problems and worked with her on those. After doing some practice problems, she felt good about the concept. We also practiced multiplying and dividing mixed numbers."
"Today, the student and I worked on his math homework again. This assignment was very similar to the assignment he worked on yesterday. He had a little problem recalling the things he learned yesterday, but by the end of the session he was doing very well. He still has some homework that is not due till the end of the week and he assured me he was going to work on it tonight. I will check it tomorrow and we can make corrections then."
"The student's class is currently covering operations with functions, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and composing functions. He was perfectly comfortable with all of the material and adept at completing the problems on his own, and had no information about upcoming material, so we spent most of the session discussing basics of economics, including supply and demand, price incentives, and replacement options."
"Reviewed chapter 4 in student's text book and went through a review packet of problems he was given. Solved some integrals, did summations and limit problems, practiced using the substitution method. Worked word problems involving physics. Student seemed more comfortable working the problems and felt he was in a much better place preparedness-wise for his upcoming test."
"Today we worked on algebraic problems, translating from common language to algebraic language. He did well on solving some equations, but we need to get better in analyzing problems in order to answer them in a better way. I left him some problems to practice the concepts and strategies on problem solving."
