Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student prepare for a vocab test based on arts and culture. He made flash cards online, and learned the vocab pretty well. I asked him the words verbally to test him. We also did some exercises from his book."
"The student and I reviewed two verb conjugations: conditional and nosotros commands. He has a good grasp on both. He needs to study the irregular verbs, which is common for most students. We talked about a plan to review for his comprehensive final test that is happening next week. He should make a chart of all the verb tenses, and the endings for -ar and -ir/-er verbs."
"The student and I started going over material for his upcoming chapter exam and the final exam at the end of the semester. We also compiled a list of everyday Spanish vocabulary words that he should commit to memory. The student had great focus today!"
"The student and I talked about his goals, what he was working on now in Spanish, and what pieces of Spanish were most difficult for him. He had a specific project that he wanted help on, related to using the conditional to plan a trip around the world. We edited what he had already written, and then worked together on what he could write about the other countries. We ended the session talking about some memorization strategies and study skills specifically related to Spanish."
"The student and I went over a lot today! We started with positive and negative commands and connected that with the subjunctive because they have similar conjugations. We didn't go into detail with the subjunctive because he hasn't gone over it in school yet and it is a very tricky principle. He took an AP diagnostic test, so after that we focused on reading comprehension because that's what he struggled on the most. Like I said, we went over a lot, but I think that it was a good introduction. He is a great student and did a great job with all the new information."
"The student and I worked on his Mexican news journal for his Spanish class for most of the session today. We translated two articles for him to summarize, which seems to be helpful for him while he's been learning more and more. The articles are a little bit lengthy, but we managed to work in a homework worksheet covering some of the exercises from his book before the session was over. He seems to be getting better gradually, but still has some problem words he needs to practice with daily or at least more often to get the hang of. We will continue to work on this next session."
