Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed her math homework, which focused on placing numbers in place values. She had some difficulty at first, but was able to quickly solve for these problems after some guidance. We also worked on her writing homework and began reading some of her new book. She forgot her book baggie, so we weren't able to read her new book for ELA, but we were able to find the PDF version of it."
"The student and I filled out some more flashcards, and when we had six full sets, we played our flash card war game. She was a little slower than she used to be, but she did fairly well for not practicing all summer. We also worked through a sheet on place value and a problem solving page."
"The student and I focused almost primarily on subtraction today. He has been struggling a bit with remembering subtraction strategies, especially when working with double digit numbers. He seemed to catch on a lot better today, and I have high hopes that he will retain the information moving into the future."
"The student and I focused more on math today. We counted, worked on numeral seriation, counted on, and did some 1 to 1 correspondence. We read and talked about a book, practicing book handling skills including titles and authors. We used dominos for a variety of skills. The student really perked up at the end with the dominos activities. I will look for more game type activities that we can pull out many objectives. I think he enjoyed driving his cars on the road!"
"The student and I go over her weekly work. She had spelling words for S, Sh and Ch words...and aced it the first time. We went over some math work and helped her to correct her errors about fact families. Great session."
"The student and I had a fun session today. We reviewed word problems on his Unit 2 Math Assessment. He did not do well, but he seems to know more of the material that the assessment reveals. He will retake the assessment this week. I'm sure he will score higher. He struggles with multiplication and division word problems. He does a great job with drawing arrays!"
